Readers Respond: Who would make Team Canada if you were picking the Olympic roster?

It's easy to agree on guys like Sidney Crosby and Rick Nash. But there are plenty of players "on the bubble" as Canada sizes up the candidates for the 2010 Olympic men's hockey team. Has Dion Phaneuf got his game back? Is Vincent Lecavalier still worthy? How many Staal brothers would you take? Is there room for Marc Savard? Let's hear your picks. Who's overrated? Who's been overlooked? Who do you think deserves a spot on Team Canada? Share Your Roster Picks

My Picks

GOAL - Brodeur, Fleury, Luongo (barring injuries I do not think this will change) D-MEN - Locks are Bouwmeester, Boyle, Niedermayer, Pronger; Bubble Guys: Doughty & Phaneuf, with Green as 7th for PP FORWARDS - Locks are Crosby, Nash, Iginla, and from there it's a crap-shoot; Bubble Guys; Carter, Getzlaf, Heatley, Marleau, Perry, M.Richards, St.Louis, Smyth, Stamkos, Thornton. There's my 23-man roster (for now, as lots of probable changes based on performances yet to come)

the real team

Goalies: martin Broudeur, marc- andre Fleury (luongo is not playing like an olympic goalie) For Defense: Take Pronger, Weber , Bouwmeester, Phaneuf, Keith, and Boyle Forwards: Iginla, Thornton,Heatley, Crosby, Nash, Richards, St. Louis, Getzlaf, Marleau, Carter, Perry, and if Stamkos keeps playing the way he does he would also do well. Shane Doan is on the bubble for me. He is a good leader but, it would be hard for me to take him unless he was on the 3rd or 4th line. Also, if Rich Peverley keeps his season as consistent as its been, Steve Yzerman should keep an eye on him too. Mike Green could also fit in there. I don't see how Milan Lucic should be considered. Lucic can fight and sometimes score.

Canadian team

brodeur, luongo, fleury bouwmeester, niedermayer, boyle, weber, seabrook, keith, regehr nash, crosby, iginla, doan, getzlaf, heatley, richards, j. staal, sharp, e. staal, carter, st. louis, toews, would have picked savard, but he got injured and sharp should definitely make the team because of his scoring prowess and his ability to get the puck from anyone on the ice

REVISED

Goal:, brodeur, fleury, luongo,(runs a bit hot and cold), but ward is hurt now. Pairs, Defense: niedermayer, weber, (voted best D-man at world's last April), pronger, (love his league best + 12) with boyle,(highest point total, of all our D-men, so far), regehr,(big shut down guy), with young phenom doughty,(excellent at world championships, another right hand shot, plus very dependable, yet only 19 years) bouwmeester,(incredible skater and can log big, big minutes) Forwards by lines:(left to right) nash, crosby,st.louis,(fits well with Sid as shown in Calgary pre-camp), marleau,(leads all Canadians in points,so far),getzlaf, perry,(fits well with ryan g and he's scoring lots), checking line: morrow,m richards, (excellent 2-way player) and j staal,(big, strong, fast, young, wicked checker, with the Cup last year), heatly, thornton, iginla, (not a bad 4'th line) extra forward: Steve Stamkos not invited to Calgary pre-camp BUT just check his resume, #1 in goals,WOW

Team Canada 2

I think you could win a silver with the players you don't pick for your team let me know your picks and i'll offer up the challenger
—Guest The Hammer

AGREE to DISAGREE

Jerome Iginla should be the captin. He has experience being the captain and he also knows how to whip a team into shape. Sidney Crosby is a great hockey player but putting the pressure on him this year would be fatal to the Olympic Team.
