AGREE to DISAGREE

Jerome Iginla should be the captin. He has experience being the captain and he also knows how to whip a team into shape. Sidney Crosby is a great hockey player but putting the pressure on him this year would be fatal to the Olympic Team.

Team Canada 2010

GOAL Brodeur, Fleury, Ward (each has won the Stanley Cup) DEFENSE Niedermayer, Weber Pronger, Doughty, (young, cool under fire) Bouwmeester, (skating), Regehr,(stay at home "D") Burns, (big guy, can play F or D, and Hitch likes him) FORWARDS Stamkos, (young, a 1/1 overall and scoring), Crosby, St.Louis, (big game player, worked well with Sid at pre-camp in August and Stamkos and Martin S Nash, Getzlaf, Perry, (a big physical line and Correy fits with Getzlaf) Love this line, . . . , big and nasty to play against. Morrow, (remember NHL PO's 2 years ago) Mike Richards, (best two way player in league), Jordan Staal, (he's a big horse, he's young, he's won a cup, great checker and better recovery than Doan) Marleau,(having a big scoring year), Thornton, (fits with Marleau), Iginla, (leadership and very tough), Extra: Toews, (great all around player, young, ,big, fast, captain, character guy). Taxi Squad: J Carter, Brad Richards, (versatile), Keith.

D on O

Morrow-Fisher-Doan In terms of scoring not the strongest prospects but all of these guys can play a strong checking forward group. We don't need 4 lines that all score. Need penalty killers and solid defensive guys, like these for the fourth.

Pair up the Defenders

There's no time to practice and prepare, so take guys who already play together: Phaneuf plays with Bouwmeester, and Duncan Keith with Brent Seabrook.

Goaltending is Key

It all comes down to the man between the pipes. If Canada goes in with a hot goalie, they'll win no matter who plays on the third line or defense pair. Right now I don't have faith in any of these guys. But I'd probably start Luongo and hope for the best.

Savard Yes, Thornton No!

Marc Savard has twice the skills and ten times the heart of Joe Thornton.
