Here are the all-time greatest comebacks in the history of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Single-Game Stanley Cup Comebacks:

  • 5 Goals: Los Angeles Kings, 1982
    On April 10, 1982, the Los Angeles Kings trailed the Edmonton Oilers 5-0 before coming back to win 6-5 in overtime. The game became known as the "Miracle on Manchester." With the win, L.A. took a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five division semifinal, and went on to eliminate the heavily favored Oilers in five game.
  • 4 Goals: San Jose Sharks, 2011
    On April 19, 2011, Los Angeles built a 4-0 lead over San Jose before the Sharks began their comeback in the second period. San Jose won 6-5 in overtime, taking a 2-1 lead in the opening round series.
  • 4 Goals: Minnesota North Stars, 1985
    On April 28, 1985, the Minnesota North Stars fell behind 4-0 before coming back to beat the Chicago Blackhawks 5-4 in overtime. Chicago won the next game to eliminate Minnesota in Stanley Cup Quarterfinal series.
  • 4 Goals: Montreal Canadiens, 1971
    On April 8, 1971, the Montreal Canadiens erased a four-goal deficit to beat the Boston Bruins 7-5. The win tied the Stanley Cup quarterfinal series at one game apiece, and Montreal eventually won the series in seven games.

Greatest Stanley Cup Comebacks in a Best-of-Seven Series:

  • 3 Games: Philadelphia Flyers, 2010
    The Philadelphia Flyers began their second round series against Boston with three losses, and were one goal away from elimination in game four before winning 5-4 in overtime. After two more wins to tie the series, Philadelphia fell behind 3-0 in game seven, but came back to clinch the series with a 4-3 victory.
  • 3 Games: New York Islanders, 1975
    After opening their Stanley Cup quarterfinal series with three losses to the Penguins, the Islanders put together a four-game streak, completing the comeback with a 1-0 win in Pittsburgh.
  • 3 Games: Toronto Maple Leafs, 1942
    In what is still considered the NHL's greatest comeback, Toronto defeated Detroit in the Stanley Cup Final after losing the first three games by scores of 3-2, 4-2, and 5-2. The Maple Leaf comeback began with a 4-3 victory in Detroit, and continued with a pair of convincing wins: 9-3 and 3-0. A record crowd of over 16,000 packed Maple Leaf Gardens to see Toronto take the Cup by beating Detroit 3-1 in game seven.
