Our NHL trade rumors are gathered from media and online sources around the hockey world. You can also consult our index of previously reported trade rumors.

  • Wild D Marek Zidlicky was a healthy scratch in a recent D. Given Minnesota's dismal season, it seems plausible that he would waive his no-trade privileges to go to a playoff contender. He has one year left on his contract, at $4 million.
  • With so many teams seeking defensive help, Predators D Ryan Suter and Hurricanes D Tim Gleason are the hottest names on the rumor mill. Of the two, Gleason is the most likely to move, as the Predators say a new contract for Suter remains their priority. Suter is due to be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, and will command top dollar.
  • The Hockey Night in Canada Hotstove suggested that the Hurricanes are hoping to create a bidding war for Gleason, with he Bruins and Flyers as likely suitors.
  • F Tuomo Ruutu is the other Hurricane being shopped. To the Bruins, perhpas?
  • Recent comments from Sabres G Ryan Miller suggest he's very frustrated with Buffalo's season, leading to speculation that he could be avalable in a blockbuster deal at the trade deadline.
  • Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun says the Rangers, Sharks, Bruins, and Red Wings are among the teams in line for Ducks F Teemu Selanne. But it's unclear whether Selanne would prefer to stay put or be traded to a playoff team. He identifies F Bobby Ryan as the other Duck most likely to be dealt.
  • Garrioch sees the Flyers, Penguins, Panthers, and Senators as the possible destinations for Canadiens D Hal Gill. D Chris Campoli should also be available.
  • With the Oilers headed for another losing season, F Sam Gagner and F Ales Hemsky remain the most talked-about trade targets.
  • Eric Francis of HNIC Hotstove floated the possible combo of Predators D Jonathan Blum and a first-round draft pick for Hemsky.
  • Numerous reports say the Rangers will offer up F Wojtek Wolski and F Erik Christensen in any deal.
  • For teams in need of forward depth, here are the players most likely to be on the move at the NHL trade deadline, according to Pierre LeBrun of ESPN.com: Blue Jackets F Vaclav Prospal, F Antoine Vermette and F Kristian Huselius; Sabres F Derek Roy, F Drew Stafford, and F Brad Boyes; Oilers F Ales Hemsky, Hurricanes F Tuomo Ruutu, and Ducks F Jason Blake.
  • Several sources have speculated on a package deal involving Kings G Jonathan Bernier, including the possibility of Bernier going to Edmonton, with Hemsky one of the assets going to L.A.
  • Though they've played better lately, the Capitals still don't look like the serious Stanley Cup contender they're supposed to be, which leads many to suggest that the team will consider any offer for F Alexander Semin.
  • With Minnesota looking at a lost season, and G Josh Harding eligible for unrestricted free agency this summer, you have to think the Wild would consider moving him to a team in need of goaltending insurance.
  • Tampa Bay, another team likely to miss the playoffs, would be a natural fit for Harding, as the Lightning need youth and stability in net.
  • Though many assumed it was only a matter of time before the Blue jackets dealt F Derick Brassard, his name appears to be off the rumor mill for now.
