Senior Hockey

Definition: Amateur hockey for players over the age of 20. Most popular in Canada, where it is played in regional leagues, though the quality of play can vary widely from one league to the next. Every year, league winners organize a year-end competition for the Allan Cup, awarded to the top senior hockey team in Canada. Until the 1960s, the winner of the Allan Cup represented Canada at Olympics and World Hockey Championship.
