International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF)

Definition: The governing body of international competition, including the Olympics and World Hockey Championship. Based in Zurich, Switzerland, it includes 63 member nations. The IIHF has no authority over the National Hockey League, and some of its rules differ from NHL rules, but the two work closely on most issues and competitions.
