The New Hampshire Wildcats are the number-one ranked team, after running up a 33-2-1 record and an undefeated streak that currently stands at 29 games, the second longest ever in NCAA women's hockey. They rank first in scoring and defense, and have the best power play in the nation.
The Minnesota Golden Gophers return to the women's Frozen Four for the fifth straight year, in search of a third straight national championship. This time, the Gophers are on home ice, as as Minnesota's Mariucci Arena is the site of this year's championship weekend.
The Wisconsin Badgers are in the women's semifinals for the first time, having been ranked at or near the top in national polls since the beginning of the season. The roster includes junior forward Sara Bauer, nominated for the Patty Kazmaier Award as top player in the NCAA.
The St. Lawrence Saints make their third straight appearance in the women's Frozen Four. They won the national title in 2001 with an upset of number-one ranked Dartmouth. The lineup includes another Patty Kazmaier nominee, sophomore forward Sabrina Harbec.
