Northeast Regional (Worcester, Massachusetts)

West Regional (Grand Forks, North Dakota)

Tournament Format and seedings:

Automatic qualification privileges are granted to the postseason champions of six conferences. The remainder of the field is selected at large.

East Region -

1. Michigan State (CCHA champion)
2. Harvard (ECACHL champion)
3. Maine (at-large selection)
4. New Hampshire (at-large selection)

1. Wisconsin (at-large selection)
2. Cornell (at-large selection)
3. Colorado College (at-large selection)
4. Bemidji State (CHA champion)

West Region -

1. Minnesota (at-large selection)
2. North Dakota (WCHA champion)
3. Michigan (at-large selection)
4. Holy Cross (Atlantic Hockey champion)

Northeast Region -

1. Boston University (Hockey East champion)
2. Miami (at-large selection)
3. Boston College (at-large selection)
4. Nebraska-Omaha (at-large selection)

Television Coverage: ESPN will produce broadcasts of the 12 regional games and syndicate each game for interested local cable systems, regional sports networks and selected over-the-air stations. ESPNU will air more than 20 hours of coverage of the regional games. ESPN2 will broadcast the semifinal games. ESPN will televise the national championship game.
