Complete rosters for the 2004 NHL All Star Game were selected by the NHL's hockey operations department, in consultation with the league's general managers.
13 skaters and two goaltenders were named to each team, joining the six starters elected by fans in voting conducting earlier this season. Three Eastern Conference representatives were replaced after withdrawing from the game due to injury.
The final list of All Stars represents 24 of the NHL's 30 teams. Of the 42 players, 17 will be appearing in their first NHL All Star Game. The youngest player selected is 19-year-old Rick Nash of the Columbus Blue Jackets, who leads the NHL with 31 goals going into the All Star break. The oldest is Mark Messier, who just turned 43 and is the New York Rangers' leading scorer. Messier makes his 15th All Star appearance.
The 2004 NHL All Star Game is scheduled for February 8 in St. Paul, Minnesota.
