NHL Daily Quick Fix: Tanguay On Top
The Colorado Avalanche played it fast and loose in their own zone. But the power play bailed them out. The Avalanche sacrificed a couple of one-goal leads in San Jose before a Teemu Selanne power play goal put them in front for good last night. A late flurry by the Sharks fell short and Colorado escaped with a 4-3 victory. Alex Tanguay had two assists in the game, and now leads all NHL scorers with 23 points. In Tuesday's other games:
- Boston went 3-for-4 on the power play and geld off a late Edmonton rally to beat the Oilers 4-3. The Bruins remain on top of the Eatsern Conference and have yet to lose in seven games against Western teams.
- Dwayne Roloson stopped 29 shots and Sergei Zholtok scored in the dying minutes to give Minnesota 1-0 win over Vancouver. Ther Wild have five wins and a tioe in their last seven games.
- Ottawa won for the first time is six games, 5-3 over the slumping Atlanta Thrashers. Martin Havlat scored his second goal of the season to put Ottawa ahead midway through the third period.
- The Florida Panthers put on an impressive show for their new coach, Rick Dudley. An excellent game from goaltender Roberto Luongo set up a 4-0 win against Tampa Bay.
- Canadiens 1-Blue Jackets 1(OT)/Flyers 2-Islanders 1.
