"Spoiled brats... You should be thankful you're paid to play hockey."

By December 12, 2012

Follow me on:

L.A. Kings fan Dustin Brown enjoys the celebrity life, hanging with the cast of Yo Gabba Gabba.

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman isn't the only one getting a little testy these days.

Fans are understandably fed up with seeing their game held hostage as the 2012 lockout drags on.

Last summer, as hockey's latest labor war was getting underway, we asked for your input.

If you were in charge, what would you suggest as a fair and equitable resolution to the NHL lockout?

At first, answers from readers tended towards practical, even-tempered suggestions.

But lately, frustration is boiling over, and the players are taking the brunt of it:

I work my ass off in the oilfield for money you spoiled brats wouldn't even get out of bed for...

Crosby get a real job at 60k a year and try to take your family to a game...

I can't go to my boss and tell him i want 50% or more of the profits. What a joke...

There's no doubt that both sides have screwed up badly in failing to get the NHL back on the ice.

But are spoiled brats to blame?

Let's look at that question and more as we review the common complaints of enraged hockey fans.

Yes, the NHL players make way too much money to begin with and wouldn’t last 5 seconds in the battle field or in the everyday work force. Over 50% of these players don’t even deserve to be in the NHL. Back in my day, the players were 1 out of the 3:
1. A superstar who creates dazziling, dipsy-doodle plays that create scoring chances, OR scores goals that draw oohs, and ahhs like at an NBA Slam Dunk competition
2. A crowd-pleasing goon who fights for his team & puts fans in the stands
3. players who can do both
But now, like I said, over 50% of these players in the NHL are career AHLers at best who don’t score, or fight.
BUT, the owners are bigger dipshits due tot he fact that they threw these underserving players the big bucks to begin with, and Gary B. Bettman was, is, and always will be “The Absolute Worst Thing Ever To Happen” in this once awesome sport known as Hockey!

I’m amazed that there isn’t more anger focused on the owners. If you had a job where you knew you wouldn’t work in your fifties, probably wouldn’t work in your forties, and could possibly get a career-ending injury at any moment, you’d probably want to make the maximum amount of money. The owners do not face anything like that. I think that the fans have income envy and aren’t using their heads at all. My contempt is focused on the owners, not the players. This is what, three times now in twelve years? That’s an incompetent commissioner, who is just a tool of these idiot owners.
