You're not still following the NHL lockout, are you?

Still plowing through all that blather about escrow payments and hockey-related revenue?

That's what accountants and sports reporters are for.

As a fan, you're free to turn your attention - and your dollars - elsewhere.

If you've never watched anything except the NHL, there's a whole world of hockey waiting to be discovered this winter.

We'll begin with a look at the second tier of the North American game.

The American Hockey League is home to prospects, pluggers, and reliable vets, all of them hoping their next phone call is the one that takes them to the big leagues.

And no, they're not locked out.
