Is New York the right place for Marian Gaborik? Have the Senators finally hit rock bottom?

What ever happened to Bob Gainey? And when can fans in Edmonton and Los Angeles expect the arrival of this long-awaited "future" we've heard so much about?

These questions and more are pondered in the first draft of our NHL Season Preview.

With one page each devoted to the Eastern and Western Conferences, we address the crucial question facing each team going into 2009-10.

Working from the bottom up, about half the teams in the league have been covered so far. The rest will be done by the end of next week.

Id bet Colorado does better than 14 in the West – bubble team Id say. Or rather, they certainly have the potential to be much better. Sacco might make a big difference if he’s really awful though.

Not sure what Colorado has to be even slightly optimistic about. Unless Stastny and Hejduk can play 60 minutes and Foote can turn the clock back five years.
