Tuesday June 12, 2007

With another NHL season in the books, it's time for the men in suits to gather and divide the fresh meat. This year's NHL Entry Draft takes place Friday, June 22 and Saturday, June 23 in Columbus.

Blackhawks fans, Flyers fans and others longing for a brighter future can prepare for the big day by checking the order of selection in the first round, and find out how the draft works at our NHL Draft Day Basics page.

To check out the top prospects in what is believed to be a fair-to-middling year:

  • At USA Today, Kyle Woodlief of Red Line Report ranks the top 10 forwards and top 10 defensemen, with a thumbnail assessment of each player.
  • TSN.ca lists the top 35 (including five goaltenders), according to rankings by International Scouting Services.
  • Over 400 players are listed at NHL.com, as ranked by the league's Central Scouting Services.
