Evil Hockey Wife Breaks Up Oilers!

Sunday June 25, 2006

Edmonton fans are still reeling from the news that Chris Pronger wants out of town. The man who did more than anyone to bring the Oilers within a game of the Stanley Cup made his trade request on Friday. "Personal reasons" is the phrase being used, but the apparent problem is that Pronger's wife doesn't want to live in Edmonton.

The backlash has begun, with the evil vixen and her selfish husband suddenly elevated to Public Enemy No. 1 in Alberta's capital. Graham Hicks of the Edmonton Sun writes that the treacherous Ms. P had the gall to chat amiably with him a few weeks ago, is if everything was just fine!

I'm told, from real estate sources, that the Prongers had already packed up their Edmonton home and had it up for sale before the end of the playoffs. What a textbook example of the illness of our age, of self-absorption. It's all about me, as opposed to commitment, honour, putting team ahead of self. In short, doing what's right.

Funny how loyalty only becomes an issue when a player abandons a team. You don't hear much about commitment or honour when teams dump players, which they do on an almost daily basis.

Trading, waiving, demoting or releasing a guy with barely a few minutes notice is "part of the business." Adults and their families deciding where they want to live? That's fine for the rest of us, but if you're a hockey player it's "self-absorbtion."

I agree with your take on the practice of teams abandoning players just as Pronger wants to get out of Edmonton. Like any business deal, one partner has the right to ask the other to get out of it.
But Lowe should hold out for the absolute BEST he can get for this guy….even if it gets ugly like it did when Mike Comrie breached his contract. Make Pronger wait & take a long time to negotiate. Make him sit and stagnate . Ha!
Then, when he is traded and comes to Rexall Place to play against the Oil with his new team (probably Nashville) the fans have every right to boo his selfish ass outta the rink!

I think it is much deeper than you think. Rumours from very reliable sources stated that Chris may had an affair with someone quite prominent in this city. Then after, it was a case of “Are you staying here or are you coming with me back to St. Louis-L. Pronger”… After all, Chris was labelled as Mrs. Robinson While in Hartford…

Gee Phil, didn’t Comrie have an affair and that’s what got him in trouble in Edmonton? Who’s your reliable source on Pronger – the local drunk down at the bar? Come on grow up. It’s about family here and if he wants to leave then fine.

Geez! Gets rather ugly here doesn’t it?

Makes me appreciate my Red Wing Captain Steve Yzerman even more, until I’ll read the dirt about him on here!

Thats the stupidest ting i’ve ever heard. Its his WIFE who he LOVES!!!! I hate to break it to you, but he has a bgger commitment to his wife than the oilers!!!!
Pronger is not self absorbed, and no one has the right to call him that.

Soooo…she’s like Yoko then? :>)

The Edmonton papers are toying with that analogy, Wendy (“Our Own Yoko”), and last night a sports show in Canada put Lauren Pronger’s photo on screen while playing “Be My Yoko Ono” by the Barenaked Ladies.

If it is true that Prongers wife has influenced him to move from Edmonton, than it will definately be a sad day for the Oilers.

I just think that if Pronger wants to leave, he shouldn’t let the whip of his wife determine where he moves to. But for those of you who do not know what goes on behind the scenes of the NHL, mothers and wives hold the reins when it comes to decision making at times. Most of you don’t see that.

But, nonetheless it should be Prongers decision. If he feels that he has contributed all he can to the Oilers success and can give no more than fine, maybe it is time to move on, no Oiler fan would want Pronger to stay if he didn’t want to.

But if he is letting his wife call the shots than I don’t necessarily agree with it as much.

But Edmonton can look at this in a good way, maybe a really good trade can also bring someone with just as much if not more talent than Pronger. So I don’t think the Oiler fans should get their panties all in a bunch just yet.

I think there is more to the Pronger story. What about an unfaithful husband? That would make any girl want to leave town. Just a thought on what might be going on….

Whats wrong with Edmonton…. like Mrs. P doesnt have the biggest mall in the world to spend her husbands hard earned money. Speaking of money…. I want my $200 back for the new Pronger jersey I bought!
