NHL Players Don Suits and Pose With Trophies
No stunning surprises as the NHL Awards were handed out on Thursday - not that it's ever been an edge-of-your-seat affair. Joe Thornton is the 2005-06 MVP, and he's as good a choice as any. Everyone knew Alexander Ovechkin would be named Rookie of the Year (Sidney Crosby supporters had long since conceded defeat and opted for an "our guy will be better in the long run" campaign.)
As far as I can tell, the awards are of little interest to anyone besides reporters and bloggers. But here's the complete list, along with the first, second and rookie All Star Teams.
