Is This the Goal of the Year?
Washington's Alexander Ovechkin scored a backhander from flat on his back against Phoenix yesterday. And it looks like he did it on purpose. (Thanks to Eric McErlain for the link).
Not bad, Alex. However, my vote still goes to Jason Spezza's overtime winner against Montreal in October. Not as unique as Ovechkin's blind backhander, but Spezza's rapid-fire series of world-class moves (against Canadiens' defensman Sheldon Souray and goalie Jose Theodore) are as pure as hockey skill gets.
