You've Always Wanted To Do This
During a Montreal Canadiens practice yesterday, a stranger jumped on the ice and had a couple of breakaways on goaltender Jose Theodore before being collared by security.
The man - later identifying himself as "Raphael" - saw his chance when most of the players were at the opposite end of the rink. Dressed in full hockey equipment, he climbed over the boards and skated for glory.
The goaltender poke-checked the first attempt, then stopped a weak wrist shot.
"I poke-checked him to say 'You have to keep your head up,'" Theodore explained later. "When he came back, I thought about going out of the net and not playing into his game, but then I thought he had the (courage) to go on the ice, so I let him have a free shot at me."
"He couldn't beat me. That's the main thing."
