New NHL Includes Todd Bertuzzi
The NHL issued a brief statement yesterday, announcing that Todd Bertuzzi can resume his hockey career when the 2005-06 season begins. In total, Bertuzzi was suspended for 13 regular season games and seven playoff games after his attack on Steve Moore of the Colorado Avalanche in March of 2004.
Everyone has their own idea of what constitutes hockey justice, and those ideas often vary according to how popular the player is among fans and how friendly he is with the media.
Media response to this one has been mostly negative, with thunderbolt-casting columnists declaring the decision "laughable" and condemning the NHL's "love affair with gratuitous violence." As you might imagine, Canucks' fans tend to be a little more charitable.
