One More Title for the Golden Gophers

Sunday March 27, 2005

The University of Minnesota has won its second straight NCAA women's hockey championship. Harvard settles for second place again.

The rematch of last year's final appeared headed for overtime as the clock ran down. But Natalie Darwitz sealed the national title by putting the Gophers ahead 4-3 with 68 seconds remaining in the third period. It was her fourth point of the game and ninth of the weekend. Darwitz, a junior forward, finishes the season with 114 points, the highest total ever in women's college hockey.

St. Lawrence defeated Dartmouth 5-1 in the third-place game.
