Rebellion Brewing in the NHL Players' Association?
Yesterday we asked, Where Does the NHL Players' Asscoiation Go From Here? It seems a few players are asking the same question.
For what it's worth, rumors continue to suggest that solidarity is very shaky in the NHL players' union.
Drawing on several media sources, TSN.ca summarizes the latest rumblings of discontent. One report has a group of players and agents drafting a new offer for the league without consulting the NHLPA head office or executive director Bob Goodenow.
This could be a classic case of reporters putting two and two together and getting five: Maybe a few players meet for dinner, shoot some pool and test-drive each other's Jags, and the next day the newspaper reports it as "a secret meeting." But there is no denying the unhappiness and anger among NHL players.
"There were a lot of people who really couldn't understand how we could go so long not talking about a cap and then just change over to a cap like that," Mike Modano told the Dallas Morning News. "And a lot of people didn't like it."
Do the players still support Goodenow and his sidekicks? "I don't know, I don't know. I'm not sure," Modano replied.
