"There's no damn hockey game on. They're skunks, Bettman and Goodenow."
A dying man has used his obituary to take a parting shot at the National Hockey League.
Archibald "Archie" Bennitz passed away this week at the age of 84. His frustration with the NHL lockout lasted right up to his dying breath, as did his anger with the league commissioner and the head of the Players' Association.
"He asked that Mr. Bettman and Mr. Goodenow know that they are 'skunks' for denying him the pleasure of watching the NHL on TV this year," reads the death notice in the Ottawa Citizen. "He also asked that Mr. Bettman step aside and give Wayne Gretzky the job that rightfully belongs to him."
David Bennitz says watching hockey was his dad's favorite pastime, one that was denied him when he was admitted to hospital about a month ago. "There's no damn hockey game on," growled Archie from his hospital bed. "They're skunks, Bettman and Goodenow."
