2004 World Cup: Will There be Enough Players to Fill the Uniforms?
Sunday August 15, 2004
Canada's chances at the 2004 World Cup took a big hit today, when it was announced that Chris Pronger will miss the tournament due to injury. Pronger joins Rob Blake, Steve Yzerman and Ed Belfour on the list of lame Canadians. But just about every World Cup roster is being filled out with reserves, as injured players send their regrets.
Injuries aren't the only problem. Mathieu Schneider withdrew from the American team because he doesn't have an NHL contract. And it seems that almost no one wants to play for Russia.
