Court Docket: Dany Heatley Indicted; Mike Danton Pleads Guilty
The Atlanta Thrashers star was behind the wheel of his Ferrari convertible when it slammed into a wall on an Atlanta street last September 29. Snyder died from injuries sustained in the crash.
After recovering from his own injuries, Heatley returned to the Thrashers in January. At the conclusion of his NHL season, he led Canada to the 2004 World Hockey Championship, winning MVP honors in the tournament.
A date for Heatley's preliminary hearing has not been set.
Meanwhile, Mike Danton has pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit murder for hire in a U.S. federal court in St. Louis. He will be sentenced in October, and faces up to ten years in prison. The target of the conspiracy was alleged to be Danton's agent, David Frost.
Danton, 23, is coming off his first full NHL season as a member of the St. Louis Blues. He was arrested in April, one day after the Blues were eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
