Senators Hope Hasek Can Dominate Again
Tuesday July 6, 2004
He didn't look much like "the Dominator" last season. But the Ottawa Senators think Dominik Hasek can still stop pucks. Hasek, who turns 40 in January, has signed a one-year contract with the team, with a club option for a second year. The Toronto Globe and Mail reports that Ottawa will pay Hasek $2 million next season, but a bonus structure could add up to $4 million if the Senators go all the way to the Stanley Cup. Hasek became a free agent after a disappointing season in Detroit, plagued by injuries and poor performances. Patrick Lalime, Ottawa's previous number-one goalie, was traded to St. Louis last month.
