Stanley Cup Final Schedule
Thursday May 20, 2004
The NHL is starting to figure out that hockey in June is a tough sell. If this year's Stanley Cup Final goes the full seven games, the 2003-04 season will end June 7. If it ends in a four-game sweep, it will mark the first time since 1991 that NHL hockey is not played in June.
By comparison, consider that two years ago Detroit and Carolina did not begin the final series until June 4. The longest year was 1995, when the Devils won their first Stanley Cup on June 24.
