Ovechkin Will Be A Capital
Tuesday April 6, 2004
Having endured a miserable season, the Pittsburgh Penguins were hoping to collect their reward in June, at the NHL Entry Draft. But the Washington Capitals swooped in and stole the prize. The Capitals won the NHL draft lottery today, which gives them this year's number-one pick and the right to select Russian forward Alexander Ovechkin, the most highly-anticipated prospect in several years. The Penguins, this season's worst team, will pick second. It marks the sixth consecutive year that the team finishing last overall has lost the top pick in the subsequent draft lottery.
