Underachieving Panther Traded To New Jersey
Monday March 1, 2004
Everyone thought they were seeking defense. But for now, the New Jersey Devils have settled for some insurance at forward. The Devils have acquired Viktor Kozlov from the Florida Panthers. In return, the Panthers get a pair: Christian Berglund is a 23-year-old winger who has failed to break the Devils' lineup in three years of trying, while Victor Uchevatov is a 20-year-old defenseman in the AHL. That's not a bad return on Kozlov, who was expected to produce more than 11 goals and 16 assists in 46 games this season.
