  • Mighty Ducks 1-Avalanche 0: J.S. Giguere stops 38 shots for his first shutout of the season. The Ducks have won just 5 of Giguere’s 20 starts.
  • Panthers 1-Stars 0: The Stars have been held scoreless three times in the last eight games. They can’t win away from home (3-12-2).
  • Flames 2-Blue Jackets 1: Calgary kills off 13 power plays, scores a shorthanded goal, and finishes an eastern road trip three-for-three.
  • Devils 5-Sabres 2/Red Wings 3- Blackhawks 2/Maple Leafs 2-Capitals 2.

    Fantasy Hockey Whiz: Columbus left winger Rick Nash is the first player to hit the 20-goal mark this season. .

    Rumor Du Jour: Much talk that the Sabres are looking to unload Miroslav Satan. Satan is in the midst of one of his worst seasons, with 14 points in 33 games.

    Lame: Minnesota Wild defenseman Brad Brown broke his right wrist early during Thursday's 1-1 tie in Edmonton. He is out of the lineup indefinitely.

    Streaking: The Sabres have lost seven straight; the Maple Leafs are 11-0-1-1.

  • The Owen Sound Attack of the Ontario Hockey League have retired Dan Snyder’s #14. The ceremony took place before a game on Friday night. Snyder played four seasons with the junior team, serving as captain for two years. He died October 5 in a car accident in Atlanta, where he played for the Thrashers.
