The Phoenix Coyotes have their first win in four games, thanks to the NHL's newest scoring star. With three goals and an assist in the Coyotes' 6-3 win over Los Angeles, Ladislav Nagy vaults into the number-six spot among NHL scoring leaders. Nagy, acquired from St. Louis in the Keith Tkachuk trade back in 2001, is in his third full NHL season. Last year he finished with 57 points. So far this season, he's on a pace for 50 goals and 97 points.
Alex Tanguay is back on top of the scoring race after recording three assists in Colorado's 6-5 overtime victory in Calgary. Tanguay has 31 points on the season, including 23 assists. Calgary's Miikka Kiprusoff allows six goals on just 24 shots.
Ottawa climbs out of a 2-0 hole against Vancouver, but can't finish the job in overtime. Markus Naslund scores in OT as the Canucks defeat the Senators 3-2. Dan Cloutier makes 31 saves for Vancouver. Naslund and linemate Todd Bertuzzi lead all NHL players at plus-18 and plus-17, respectively.
Marc Savard of the Atlanta Thrashers takes a bite out of the Toronto Maple Leafs. During a shoving match, Savard responds to a glove in the face by biting Darcy Tucker's finger. Savard is thrown out of the game and could face a suspension. The Leafs defeat the Thrashers 3-1 on the strength of two goals by Owen Nolan.
