Two Big Deals: Bertuzzi and Dupuis
Monday October 27, 2003
The NHL's new dominant big man has solidified his future with the Vancouver Canucks. The team has agreed to a four-year contract with Todd Bertuzzi. It includes a new salary for this season, replacing the $3.7-million he was due under his old deal. The Canadian Press reports that Bertuzzi's new contract is worth $27.8-million. Interesting to note that Canucks' GM Brian Burke, known for railing against lucrative contracts handed out by other teams, was nowhere to be seen at the Bertuzzi press conference.
Meanwhile, the Minnesota Wild have lured a desperately needed goal scorer back into the fold. No, not Gaborik. The guy who signed on the weekend was Pascal Dupuis, who had 20 goals and 48 points last year. The Wild have won two of nine games so far this season.
