Snyder's Life, Heatley's Career Hang in the Balance
Tuesday September 30, 2003
Doctors say the next 72 hours are critical for Dan Snyder, as he recovers from surgery for a severe skull fracture. Snyder and his Atlanta Thrashers' teammate, Dany Heatley, were travelling in Heatley's Ferrari on Monday night when the car left the road and hit a wall at about 80 mph. Snyder, the passenger, was ejected. Heatley suffered a broken jaw, a mild concussion and bruises. TSN.ca has further details on the accident, while Eric Duhatschek of the Toronto Globe and Mail has a perspective on the sudden grounding of Heatley's meteoric career. Heatley faces five charges resulting from the accident, including a felony charge of "serious injury by a vehicle." Early reports suggest alcohol was not a factor.
