The Detroit Red Wings have it all: Money, brains, talent, coaching, scouting. But the NHL's silver spoon team took a kick in the stones on Saturday, when the Red Wings' leading scorer decided he would rather be a Mighty Duck. Mitch Albom of the Detroit Free Press says letting Sergei Fedorov walk is a huge blunder. Ted Kulfan of the Detroit News, a little less dramatic, suggests the Red Wings are morphing into yet another defense-first NHL team. He doesn't explain how the loss of their best defensive forward fits in with that plan.
