Mitch Albom of the Detroit Free Press says letting Sergei Fedorov walk is a huge blunder. Ted Kulfan of the Detroit News, a little less dramatic, suggests the Red Wings are morphing into yet another defense-first NHL team. He doesn't explain how the loss of their best defensive forward fits in with that plan.
