A Devil For All Seasons

Friday July 11, 2003
When he was drafted 18th overall in 1982, Ken Daneyko joined one of the worst teams in hockey. Today, he retires from the New Jersey Devils after 1,458 games and three Stanley Cup championships. Daneyko spent his entire career in the Jersey swamp, as the team evolved from bad joke to model franchise. Rich Chere of the Newark Star-Ledger says Daneyko should be the first Devil to have his number retired. "He is the ultimate Devil," says one former coach.
